Schoenherr Hungary has boosted its regulatory capabilities by welcoming back experienced attorney at law Dániel Varga to the team. Dániel worked at Schoenherr between 2012 and 2015, and he re-joined in July 2018 to head the regulatory team in Budapest. He brings extensive knowledge of energy projects, public procurement law and other regulatory matters. His experience also covers the development of industrial and infrastructure investments, including electronic waste management plants and industrial facilities. "We are happy to welcome Dániel back as the head of our regulatory practice group. Recently we have been advising on an increasing number of energy law-related mandates. Having seen the growing demand for high-quality regulatory advisory services, we found it vital to grow our professional practice in this field. Dániel brings a number of important attributes to the firm such as his international expertise and extensive knowledge of the energy sector in CEE," said Schoenherr Hungary managing partner Kinga Hetényi.

In the last few years, the team in Budapest has advised numerous energy clients such as, JKX Oil & Gas plc, one of the key hydrocarbon exploration and production companies in Hungary listed on the London Stock Exchange. Schoenherr Hungary's track record in the energy sector includes advising several of the leading oil & gas companies in CEE, as well as international power generation, energy trading, and renewables investors.

Dániel graduated from Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Budapest (Dr. iur. 2009), and the Legal Postgraduate Institute of Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest (EU Business Law post-graduate degree 2011). After graduation, he practised with international and domestic law firms in Hungary before joining Schoenherr in 2012. In addition to advising numerous sizeable clients in the field of regulatory, he has also been involved in various real estate mandates throughout his career, including the development of industrial properties, acquisition and sale of agricultural lands, and environmental projects.
