The Turkish Desk assists clients with their investments in Turkey and advises Turkish clients on international investments. For clients wishing to invest in Turkey, we cooperate with the Turkish law firm Türkoğlu – Celepçi. This cooperation enables us to offer quality legal assistance with a team of more than 20 fee earners in Istanbul, led by managing partner Levent Celepci. We provide full services in all fields of business law, contributing our experience in complex international transactions, in particular in M&A and energy projects in Turkey. The Turkish Desk is managed by Kazım Yilmaz, who is fluent in Turkish, English and German. Markus Piuk is the partner in charge. They are supported by partner Alexander Popp and junior partner Nidal Karaman, who brings his deal experience in Turkish M&A and energy projects. As the outbound investment activity of Turkish clients continues to expand, their needs for legal assistance in the CEE region is likewise expected to grow.
Since 2006 the firm has built up a considerable transaction flow in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is primarily handled through the Bosnia and Herzegovina Desk in schoenherr’s Belgrade office. The desk is headed by Matija Vojnović, partner at schoenherr Belgrade, and includes two Bosnian lawyers with specific experience in Bosnia. For matters that require a local presence, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Desk works closely with law firms in Sarajevo and Banja Luka. The desk enables schoenherr to provide its clients in Bosnia and Herzegovina with legal advice in respect of corporate law issues (incorporation of limited liability companies, joint-stock companies, representative offices, etc.). It also offers advice on high-end complex transactions in the fields of M&A, banking & finance, competition, real estate, IP, litigation and employment matters, and legal support in connection with day-to-day business.

It is headed by Slaven Moravčević, partner at schoenherr Belgrade, and Stefani Tsekova, partner at schoenherr Sofia. The desk provides legal services in all fields of commercial law, advising on complex transactions, including M&A, banking & finance, competition, real estate, regulatory, arbitration and IP issues. Furthermore, the Macedonia Desk assists clients in privatisation and public tender matters and offers standard products in corporate law (incorporation of a standard limited liability company, joint-stock company, representative office, etc.).
Schoenherr’s Moldova Desk is incorporated within its Bucharest office. There have been several Schoenherr lawyers permanently based in Chisinau since January 2009. The desk serves as a primary point of contact for our international clients interested in doing business in the Republic of Moldova. The Moldova Desk focuses mainly on high-end transactional work for international clients. Current mandates include M&A, corporate and commercial real estate transactions for clients from the oil & gas, communications, external advertising and insurance industries. It also advises on corporate (incorporation & reorganisation of companies), banking & finance, competition, arbitration and IP matters. The Moldova Desk provides clients with full language assistance and an understanding of local business practices.

It established its Montenegro Desk principally to facilitate the needs of foreign clients interested in investing in Montenegro, meaning it services predominantly inbound investment flows. In addition, via its Montenegro Desk, schoenherr is currently advising the government of Montenegro on the most important privatisation process ever to take place in Montenegro. schoenherr Hungary was established in 2008 when a well-established team of experienced legal professionals, now led by Kinga Hetényi, joined the firm in order to benefit from schoenherr’s strong position in the CEE/SEE region. It has a long track record of representing foreign investors, mainly in acquisitions and green field investments, corporate, employment law, merger control filings and other competition matters, finance and insolvency matters as well as real estate transactional mandates, construction and development, including large-scale infrastructure and energy projects. Additionally, the team advises numerous sizeable corporate clients on an ongoing basis on issues such as general corporate, commercial and regulatory matters, real estate and employment law. Recently, the office has been attracting a growing number of international and domestic corporate clients in the energy, food, technology and banking and insurance sectors. All lawyers speak English and German in addition to Hungarian.
