Austria: Schoenherr advises proPellets Austria in connection with antitrust investigation

Schoenherr advised proPellets Austria, an association of the Austrian wood pellet industry, in connection with a dawn raid by the Austrian Federal Competition Authority (FCA) and its subsequent investigation into the Austrian pellets market. Today, the FCA announced that it will close the antitrust proceedings against proPellets Austria without further proceedings.

Schoenherr supported proPellets Austria during the entire investigation phase and negotiations with the FCA to close the case without initiating Cartel Court proceedings.

"It is a great success to achieve such a positive result for the client," said Schoenherr partner Franz Urlesberger, who led the advising team. "We were glad to be able to accompany and support proPellets in this case."

The vision and goal of proPellets is the energy transition in heating. Pellets should make a significant contribution to replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy in Austria. proPellets connects and represents the Austrian pellet industry, also as an interface and information hub for politicians, planners, architects and customers who want to switch to renewable energy for heating.

The Schoenherr team advising proPellets Austria was led by Franz Urlesberger (partner) and further consisted of Lisa Todeschini (attorney at law) and Anna Visontai (attorney at law).
