Schoenherr advised Renalfa Solarpro Group on the establishment of a joint venture with RGreen Invest – Renalfa Power Clusters (RPC) – for the development of large-scale hybrid renewable energy projects focused on integrating renewable generation with storage technologies in Romania and Poland, with a long-duration battery energy storage system forming a central component.
The collaboration follows their previous JV, Renalfa IPP, which expanded its portfolio of utility-scale hybrid assets equipped with long-duration battery storage across Europe in less than five years and has evolved into one of Europe's leading platforms deploying long-duration BESS to integrate large-scale renewables.
Schoenherr acted as transaction counsel and advised on the full scope of transaction documentation, as well as on tax and regulatory (FDI) matters. Closing of the transaction took place on 30 March 2026.
Under the joint venture, both partners have committed EUR 200m in equity to finance an approximately EUR 800m pipeline of hybrid renewable energy projects. RPC will deploy next-generation technologies for renewable power generation, storage and dispatch, with long-duration battery energy storage systems constituting a core component. The platform will also deliver optimisation solutions for data centres and low-carbon industries.
"We are delighted to have supported Renalfa on this strategically important joint venture, following our previous work on the exceptionally successful Renalfa IPP platform," said Partner and JV expert Michael Marschall, who led the Schoenherr team advising on the deal. "Joint ventures remain a cornerstone of complex infrastructure and energy projects, and our deep expertise in structuring and implementing such partnerships enabled us to provide seamless, end-to-end support throughout this transaction."
