Schoenherr advised Greenvolt Power, part of Greenvolt Group, on the sale of a 253.1 MW onshore wind farm project in Ialomita county, Romania, to ENGIE Romania. Set to become one of the largest wind farms in Romania, the project will feature 42 high-efficiency turbines and has recently secured a Contract for Difference (CfD). Construction will be managed by Greenvolt Power, with turnkey delivery to ENGIE Romania planned for 2027.
The Schoenherr team provided sell-side legal advice to Greenvolt Power throughout all phases of the transaction.
"Partnering with Greenvolt once again on another landmark energy transaction in Romania speaks to our commitment to support our clients in advancing the country's energy transition," said partner Monica Cojocaru, who led the Schoenherr team advising on this transaction. "This deal reinforces our position as experienced dealmakers in Romania's energy landscape, a market that continues to be a key destination for strategic investments."
Greenvolt Group is an international renewable energy developer with a strong track record in originating, developing and bringing to market high-quality renewable energy assets across Europe. The sale of this wind farm project to ENGIE Romania represents a clear contribution to the European energy transition and to Romania in particular.
ENGIE Romania currently owns and operates three wind farms (178 MW) and six photovoltaic parks (70.3 MWp) in Romania. With this acquisition, the company will double its renewable capacity to 500 MW in the country.
The Schoenherr team advising Greenvolt Power was led by Monica Cojocaru (partner) and included Vlad Cordea (managing attorney at law), Mădălina Mitan (partner) and Laura-Buzatu Teodorescu (senior attorney at law).
