My clients and my son – both are strict with their deadlines.

Get to know Stefanie Stegbauer, counsel in our competition, eu & foreign trade practice

In 2008, Stefanie joined Schoenherr as an associate, and since 2014 she is counsel in our
competition, eu & foreign trade practice. Her focus is on merger control and antitrust proceedings,
as well as antitrust trainings, the implementation of antitrust compliance programmes and internal
investigations. In 2021 her life at Schoenherr changed when she became a mother and now her
daily work life is built around her son.

Who are you and what do you do?
Hi, I'm Stefanie.
I am an antitrust counsel with Schoenherr.  At the moment, my daily work routine looks a
little different than it did in the 13 years at Schoenherr before my son was born: I work from
9 am to 2 pm and then pick up my son from kindergarten. In the afternoon, I enjoy spending
my time with the little one. After putting him to bed, I work on remaining open requests
and answer emails.

Which challenges are you tackling in your daily work life?
In terms of balancing family, work and private life, there are, of course, a few challenges.
Currently, one challenge is that I have to leave on time at 2 pm to head to the kindergarten.
This means I have a daily deadline here that cannot be postponed, so the most important
things have to be done by then.

What do you appreciate most about your job?
My team! Working closely with colleagues is even nicer if you can consider them friends, and
over the past 15 years, a lot of friendships have formed. In addition, exploring new industries
and markets with every mandate is incredibly interesting and makes my job so varied.

The coolest thing about my job is …
… that I get to advise on the most interesting antitrust cases as part of the
(in my opinion) best antitrust team in Austria.
