Schoenherr advised the growth investment specialist Verdane on Eversports' acquisition of MATCHi Group, a leading European software and booking platform for racket sports.
The acquisition creates one of the leading platforms for sports and wellness offerings in Europe, connecting more than 9,000 venues and studios and opening up significant expansion potential in core European markets, as well as in high-growth segments such as padel and Pilates. Together, the combined group is well positioned to accelerate the digitalisation of the sports and wellness industry across the continent, building on the complementary strengths of both platforms and the shared backing of Verdane.
Founded in 2013, Eversports is an Austrian sports booking platform that facilitates approximately 2.2 million bookings per month, connecting over 6,000 sports and activity providers and half a million active users. Eversports' mission is to make physical activities accessible to the public, as well as to help companies in the sports industry manage their client base and booking processes.
The MATCHi Group is the leading software and booking platform for racket sports in the Nordic region and across Europe, serving padel, tennis, squash and badminton facilities with end-to-end court booking, membership management and club operations tools.
Verdane is a specialist growth investment firm that partners with tech-enabled and sustainable European businesses, focusing on two core growth themes: digitalisation and decarbonisation. Verdane manages assets worth approximately EUR 7.7bln, having made over 400 investments since 2003.
The Schoenherr team advising on the transaction was led by Alfred Amann (Partner) and further consisted of Georg Winkler (Associate), Victoria Marschalek (Associate), Marco Thorbauer (Partner), Gabriel Ebner (Attorney at Law) and Daniela Birnbauer (Attorney at Law).
