Austria: Schoenherr named "Austrian Law Firm of the Year" and awarded for "European Restructuring Deal: HETA" by IFLR

Schoenherr was named "Austrian Law Firm of the Year" by renowned legal publisher International Financial Law Review ("IFLR") at the IFLR European Awards Ceremony held in London on 20 April.

Additionally, Schoenherr was honoured for its leading role in the restructuring of HETA's governmental liabilities by receiving the "European Restructuring Deal of the Year" award.

There to receive the awards were partners Sascha Hödl and Wolfgang Höller, who led Schoenherr's corporate m&a, banking, capital markets and insolvency & restructuring teams, whose premier legal support contributed to the success of the HETA transaction.

"Since the beginning of the financial crisis we have been the go-to Austrian law firm for restructuring troubled financial institutions and challenging bank sales," said Schoenherr corporate m&a partner Sascha Hödl. "The landmark restructuring of the debt instruments guaranteed by the Province of Carinthia is a breakthrough moment in our efforts to successfully wind-down HETA," added Schoenherr restructuring partner Wolfgang Höller. "We are thrilled that we received two IFLR awards, which are a tribute to our lawyers' ability to find innovative, precedent-setting solutions to challenging matters," concluded Schoenherr managing partner Michael Lagler.

The IFLR European Awards honour the work of national and international law firms across Europe in financial legal areas. The "European Restructuring Deal of the Year" award recognises a law firm's notable contribution in prominent restructuring transactions, while the national awards honour a law firm's performance in a specific market over the past year.

IFLR is a leading financial legal publication for lawyers in financial institutions, corporates and private practice. First published 35 years ago, IFLR offers insight into the latest deal structures and regulatory developments across the world, comparing best practice across regions for the benefit of in-house counsel and private practice.
