Czech Republic: Schoenherr advises KB SmartSolutions, a.s. on the strategic entry and acquisition of a stake in Platební instituce Roger a.s.

Schoenherr advised KB SmartSolutions, s.r.o. ("KB Smart Solutions"), a subsidiary of Komerční banka, a.s. focusing on collaborating with innovative fintech companies and start-ups, on the strategic entry and acquisition of an almost 25 % share in Platební instituce Roger a.s., which connects investors with companies that suffer from long invoice maturities.

"The transaction confirms KB SmartSolutions' strategy to support innovative fintech companies and create financial services for the future."

KB SmartSolutions is a subsidiary of Komerční banka, a.s (Société Générale Group). It focuses on the development and growth of start-ups providing innovative financial services as well as on creating their own fintech companies. The company's goal is to develop and shape financial services for the future.

Platební instituce Roger a.s., founded in 2013, is a leading fintech company providing factoring services. By connecting investors with companies, especially small and medium-sized ones, it provides an innovative form of operational financing for companies whose business is affected by long invoice maturities and the associated lack of cash. In 2020, the company obtained a full PSD2 licence, which will significantly expand the range of offered payment services.
